A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Arleta was identified by county authorities Thursday.
Martin Enciso Jr., 32, was identified as the victim by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner.
The crash was reported at 10:29 p.m. Sunday on the southbound freeway, just north of Osborne Street, California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
Enciso Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene, Kravig said.
Additional details about the crash were not immediately available, she said.
A news videographer who went to the scene reported that Enciso Jr. may have been running on the freeway when he was struck on the southbound side and was then thrown onto the northbound side.
The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down all southbound lanes in the area at 10:43 p.m. and shut down the HOV lane and shut down all but lane 6 of the northbound side at 11:11 p.m. The lanes were reopened at about 3 a.m.
