A 31-year-old man has been brought back to the United States from Laos to face charges in unrelated killings in San Jose and Westminster, authorities said Friday.

Myung Jin Kim was arrested in May on immigration violations in Laos, flown to the United States this week and taken to Santa Clara County where he will face trial there first for a June 27, 2016, killing.

Authorities alleged he orchestrated a killing, but the hit man and others involved in an ambush mistakenly killed the wrong person.

Kim is also accused of fatally shooting his friend, 26-year-old Christopher Kim, in an argument over money in the parking lot of a CVS drug store in the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street at about 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2018, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

An arrest warrant for Kim was issued Nov. 20, 2018, prosecutors said.
