A Silver Alert is in effect Friday for a missing 67-year-old man who was last seen in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.
James Curtis was last seen near Figueroa Street and South Avenue 60 at noon Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Curtis is white, 5-foot-10-inch, weighs 310 pounds, has gray hair and brown eyes. Authorities said he is believed to be traveling on foot.
Anyone who has seen Curtis or knows of his whereabouts was asked to call 911.
The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
