A suspect was arrested Friday in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in Irvine this week.

The collision was reported about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday at Alton Parkway and Irvine Center Drive, where the victim was walking north in a marked crosswalk when he was it by a westbound vehicle, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead. He was identified as 63-year-old Steven Craig Cox of Las Vegas, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

After Irvine police appealed to the public for help finding a suspect, a tip came in that led investigators to 25-year-old Felix Murillo of Lake Forest, police said.

A resident reported a black Ford SUV with front-end damage parked near Barranca Parkway and state Route 133, police said.

Murillo was arrested Friday afternoon and was expected to be booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, police said.
