A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was reported to have been wounded Saturday in an encounter at the Lancaster Metrolink station with a knife-wielding man and fired at the suspect.

Deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon about 2:05 p.m. Saturday at the train station at Sierra Highway and Lancaster Boulevard, the LASD confirmed to City News Service. The department could not immediately confirm what happened during that encounter with the suspect.

Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene, according to the LASD.

ABC7 reported a deputy suffered a stab wound and fired his weapon at the suspect.

A news videographer who went to the scene reported the suspect was armed with two knives and that the man died.
