A 19-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to three years and eight months in prison — time he is already credited for serving behind bars — for killing a lizard and a rabbit in Ladera Ranch.
Donovan Nathanael Hendrickson, who has been in custody since Aug. 24, 2024, pleaded guilty March 18 to two felony counts of cruelty to animals and admitted sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Hendrickson killed a lizard July 20, 2024, with a knife, according to the criminal complaint. He also killed a rabbit with a pellet gun on July 24, 2024, according to the complaint.
