The search continued Monday for the person or people who fired shots during an illegal street takeover in Carson that killed one man and wounded six other people.

The shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Charles Willard Street and Harmen Avenue, just west of Wilmington Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies dispatched to the scene located three shooting victims. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and two men were rushed to a hospital by paramedics in critical condition, sheriff’s officials said.

“Investigators have learned four additional gunshot victims that were self-transported to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries,” sheriff’s officials said. “Investigators have also learned there was a street takeover occurring at the location when the shooting occurred. There were numerous onlookers present, and investigators are urging anyone who was at the takeover to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Callers who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
