A man suspected of stealing a vehicle in Cathedral City was arrested Thursday.
Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle Wednesday in the area of Date Palm Drive and Ortega Road, according to the Cathedral City Police Department. The exact time was not disclosed.
With assistance from the Palm Springs Police Department, officers spotted the vehicle in that city and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused. Officers followed the vehicle traveling back to Cathedral City through the use of drones and witnessed it being involved in a hit-and-run collision, the department stated.
The vehicle came to a rest at the Tower Market on Date Palm, where the driver subsequently fled on foot. Officers from both agencies found him and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect, whose identity was not revealed, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, petty theft and additional offenses, police said.
