Four people were wounded during an argument at an East Los Angeles intersection, authorities said Monday.
The shooting was reported at 9:35 p.m. Sunday in the 5900 block of Whittier Boulevard at Leonard Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.
Two men were wounded when a suspect produced a handgun and fired at them during an argument, the LASD said. An uninvolved woman and a boy were also struck by bullets and left the scene.
It was initially believed there were three shootings at separate but nearby locations. However, the investigation revealed there was one shooting and that two innocent bystanders who were also wounded left that scene and went to Amelia Avenue and Sixth Street and Amelia Avenue and Whittier Boulevard, less than a mile away, to report the shooting, sheriff’s officials said.
All four victims were taken to hospitals by ambulance and treated for injuries not believed life-threatening, the officials said.
There was no suspect information, the LASD said.
Video from the scene of the shooting showed sheriff’s deputies tending to two victims while awaiting paramedics. The videographer said there was a crowd of Mexico soccer fans in the area after the team lost to England in the FIFA World Cup and that witnesses reported multiple vehicles were performing donuts in the intersection when the shooting occurred.
