A 38-year-old man shot to death during a large block party in north Compton was identified by county authorities Monday.
The shooting occurred at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of North Grandee Avenue, between Wilmington and Compton avenues, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The victim, identified by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office as Thaddeus Clark of Rialto, was pronounced dead in the street, and no suspect information was made available.
There was no indication, according to sheriff’s investigators, that the shooting was connected to another fatal shooting in Compton amid July 4 celebrations that saw a 19-year-old woman and an as yet unidentified man killed during a large party late Saturday at an apartment building, this one in the 700 block of West Laurel Street.
Three other people were also wounded, one critically, in that shooting, sheriff’s officials said.
