A 19-year-old woman who was fatally wounded along with a man during a shooting at a large Fourth of July party at an apartment building in Compton was identified Monday by county authorities.

The shooting was reported at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of West Laurel Street, east of Wilmington Avenue near Compton/Woodley Airport, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Meah Bordenave-Jenkins, whose place of residence was not released, died at the scene along with a man whose identity was being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.

“After being pronounced (dead) at the scene, the male was transported due to the large crowd inside the location,” according to the LASD.

The shooting occurred at the New Wilmington Arms Apartments.

A woman and a juvenile female were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, and a man was hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
