A 43-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a hit-and-run collision on a motorcycle that killed a pedestrian in San Clemente.
Adam Jerhemie Horner was riding a motorcycle that struck 61-year-old Susan Fernandez of San Clemente about 9:50 p.m. April 14, 2021, near El Camino Real and Boca De La Playa, according to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
Witnesses gave deputies a description of the motorcyclist and Horner was arrested nearby about a half-hour after the collision, Braun said.
When sheriff’s deputies questioned Horner he falsely claimed his motorcycle was stolen before the collision, according to testimony at his preliminary hearing.
Horner pleaded guilty to a felony count of hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury and misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter and making a false police report. He also admitted an infraction for driving without a motorcycle license.
Horner was scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 10 in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
