Firefighters put out a blaze Friday in a two-story vacant commercial building downtown that had previously burned.

The fire was reported at 5:31 a.m. at 1224 S. Hope St., near Pico Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jamie Stewart. It was out at 5:54 a.m.

Firefighters went on the offensive and called a second alarm to get additional companies to fight the fire, Stewart said. There were over 70 firefighters at the scene.

No injuries were reported and surrounding structures were not damaged, he said.

Representatives from the LA Department of Building and Safety were called to assess the building’s integrity and the cause of the fire was not determined, Stewart said.
