A 24-year-old man killed during a fiery, single-vehicle crash on a freeway transition road in Long Beach was identified Monday.

The crash occurred at 3:55 a.m. Saturday on a transition road connecting the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle struck a center divider, overturned and caught fire, the CHP said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Ricardo Hernandez, who sustained multiple blunt force injuries.

A Sigalert issued at 4:19 a.m. closing the transition road was canceled at 7:44 a.m.
