A 15-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed during an altercation in El Monte was publicly identified Thursday.
He was Aziel Zacapala, the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner said.
The attack occurred about 1 p.m. Friday in the 9700 block of Fern Street, a couple of blocks east of Rosemead Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s officials said the El Monte Police Department was notified by a local hospital after three stabbing victims arrived at the emergency department for treatment. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital and two men had stable vital signs.
“Investigators are still working to determine whether more than one suspect was involved,” an El Monte Police Department statement said. “Currently, there is no suspect description available, and the investigation is ongoing.”
