A fire that broke out Friday in a Jurupa Valley mobile home extended into surrounding vegetation, injuring a firefighter and impacting other properties south of the Pomona (60) Freeway.
The blaze was reported at 4:50 p.m. Friday in the area of Pedley Road and Mission Boulevard, less than a quarter mile from the freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews and truck companies from the county and Riverside Fire Department were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the mobile home, spreading across roughly a half-acre of surrounding brush.
A firefighter who went into the burning trailer to ensure no one was trapped suffered unspecified burns to his lower extremities, according to reports from the scene. He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.
The blaze reached an RV and possibly another single-wide trailer on Fircrest Lane before crews established hose lays, officials said.
Evacuation orders and road closures were pending.
There was no immediate word on what might have triggered the fire.
