Firefighters searched a Sherman Oaks home Sunday for a missing pet after extinguishing a fire at the residence.
Crews responded at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday to the 4100 block of North Knobhill Drive, south of Ventura Boulevard, where they found heavy smoke coming from the attic of a one-story single-family home, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The department said a domesticated pet was reported missing, prompting firefighters to conduct primary and secondary searches of the residence. The department did not provide any further information about the search.
The fire was knocked down at 3:14 p.m. Approximately 31 firefighters extinguished the blaze within 44 minutes of the initial 911 call.
The Department of Building and Safety and the Department of Water and Power were also notified.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
