An 81-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday in Long Beach.

The crash occurred at about 8:10 a.m. Monday in the area of Wardlow Road and Lakewood Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said a 1998 Chevy Van was being driven south on Lakewood Boulevard and the driver turned left onto East Wardlow Road, colliding with a 2024 Ford Bronco then striking a tree on the south sidewalk of Wardlow Road.

The van driver was treated by paramedics but died at the scene, police said. He was identified as 81-year-old Richard Adam Brown of Long Beach.

The unidentified driver of the Bronco remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives, police said.

Police said speed was believed to be a contributing factor leading up to the fatal collision, but no other details were released.

Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective David Dougherty at 562-570-7355. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
