Two men suspected of physically assaulting two people during an argument over a parking space in Indio were behind bars Wednesday.
Carlos Adolfo Chourio Utria, 19, and Juan Daniel Sanchez Hernandez, 34, were booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sgt. Abe Plata of the Indio Police Department.
Bail information was not immediately available.
Officers responded to a report of an altercation shortly before 8:55 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountain View Cottages, 46299 Arabia St.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the altercation began over a parking space, police said. Durig the confrontation, Utria allegedly stabbed one person, identified only as a 33-year-old man, while Hernandez allegedly struck another person on the head with a beer bottle.
Both injured individuals were treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The investigation was ongoing.
