A brush fire that broke out Thursday on a hillside west of Temecula burned almost two acres before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:32 p.m. Thursday in the area of Terreno and La Casita drives, in the unincorporated community of De Luz, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated that multiple engine and hand crews from the county and Murrieta Fire & Rescue were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate, bounded by dirt roads, in the immediate vicinity of one residence.
Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter initiated runs on the brusher just after 1 p.m. and confined the blaze within the roads.
Firefighters quickly established hose lays, halting the fire’s forward rate of spread at 1:20 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The home was not damaged.
Full containment of the fire was expected before 3 p.m.
The cause of the blaze — the third one in that area over the last two months — was under investigation.
