An Endangered Missing Advisory was activated Thursday after a 45-year-old man was reported missing from Sun Valley.
James Word was last seen at about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday near Sunland Boulevard and Penrose Street, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Word was described as a 6-foot-4-inch-tall man weighing 230 pounds with a bald head and brown eyes.
Authorities believe Word is traveling in a maroon 1996 Chevrolet Silverado with California license plate 93406K1.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts was urged to call 911.
The CHP issues an Endangered Missing Advisory to help locate children and other at-risk people who have been abducted or are unable to care for themselves and whose safety is believed to be in danger.
