A 53-year-old man suspected of striking and injuring a pedestrian with his vehicle, then fleeing the scene in Desert Hot Springs was arrested, authorities said Friday.
Clark Bonillas Dionisio of Desert Hot Springs was booked on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. He’s being held on bail set at $500,000.
Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday on Palm Drive.
Arriving officers found a man, whose identity was not revealed, in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to a trauma center, where he remains in critical but stable condition, police said.
Investigators utilized Flock Safety Automated License Plate Reader cameras to identify the suspect’s vehicle.
Additionally, they learned that Dionisio purchased bus and train tickets to evade arrest. He was arrested about 5 p.m. Thursday in Palm Springs hours before he was set to leave the state, the department stated.
