A 65-year-old registered nurse who helped a heartbroken man end his life pleaded guilty Friday to assisted suicide and was placed on two years of probation.

Kristie Jane Koepplin of Peoria, Arizona accepted a plea deal that dropped a murder charge against her. She was also sentenced to 364 days in jail, but that was put on hold as long as she completes the terms of probation.

Koepplin injected a lethal dose of drugs into 57-year-old Matthew Peter Sokalski of San Clemente, who was reportedly crestfallen from a breakup and asked her to help him die, according to Orange County District Attorney’s Office prosecutors.

Sokalski’s body was found in a room at a Hampton Inn Hotel in Mission Viejo on April 6, 2018.

Koepplin declined to comment after she agreed to the plea deal.

Prosecutors and Koepplin’s attorney, Paul Rogers of the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, were most recently arguing a motion to dismiss the murder charge. The basis for the motion was an argument she should be charged with aiding or abetting a suicide.

Koepplin helped Sokalski with an injection of phenobarbital, prosecutors said.

Sokalski’s ex-girlfriend, Justynka Sokalski, reported him missing to Orange County sheriff’s deputies on April 5, 2018. She said the victim’s brother texted her that he had died and included a photo with an IV in his arm, prosecutors said.

Koepplin told investigators that Sokalski, who was a longtime friend of hers, was suicidal “because of a former girlfriend,” prosecutors said in court papers. She said he had attempted suicide a month before.

  1. 1. The 65 year old Nurse did not help a heart broken man end his life. He ended his own life by drinking the solution that killed him.
    2. She accepted the plea as the only means to end the targeted investigation and malicious prosecution. Mathew did not die from lethal injection. He drank the stuff. There was dramamine and other nauseu medications to prevent vomiting. He was talking and texting with his gold digger ex wife of convenience (citizenship from poland) for several minutes after the fake photo of his deceased body with an Fake IV line that had never seen fluid was dangling off the side of the bed (IV is gravity fed – wont work from the floor). I talked to him 40 minutes after the fake photo was sent.
    4. Paul Rogers was a public defender assigned to the case. He was the 4th attorney on the case. Our first attorney Jacquelin Goodman, charged $35,000.00, made a single phone call, texted us, “All Clear” indicating the incompetence of OCSD and the OCDA ruled her out and that it was suicide. We moved. These scumbags fabricated info, got a warrant and arrested her. Once they realized we hire and attorneynin Arizond to get her out of a maximum security black mold infested county jail and that our attorney, the Arizona Prosecutor and the Judge saw the file, and realized this BS case didnt add up, the Orange County DA tried to fabricate the warrant to reflect an $11,000,000.00 bail. Thank God Arizona sae through their bullshit. They allowed me to make an offer and released her.
Our next attorney, Michael Gusti. After several year of the DA simply not showing up for hearings (simply to elongate the process) receive a plea offer. The original charge of assisted suicide vs the homocide. Homoide was introduced when Todd Spitzer was seeking a high profile case against someone her thought was helpless with the name of Dr Jeffrey Klein MD. Hes been on several shows like 20/20 talking about his advances in Medical practice and procedures. Kristie went to great lengths to protect him and his name from the media. She thought he was a good person and wanted tomprotect him. He actually held a meeting and told his employees theybwould be fired if they bad any association with Kristie. I’ll be by soon to discuss that with him. Michael Guisti had 43(?) Complaints against him. We understand this was being held over his head by the OCDA. A get the plea, keep your license sort of thing. Not sure how much truth is in it, but I heard it virbetim from 3 sources. We fire him when he stopped responding alltogether. We hire A third attorney. Courtney Pilchman. Pilchman and Kay. Told us all the stuff she would do to fight for us. Nothing. Some bullshit about arguing hearsay, but the hearsay only strengthen Kristies case by demonstraiting the incompetence of OCSD and OCDA. She started pushing the plea hard. We had a telephone conversation whsre she explained the plea for the 3rd time. Things didnt add up. At the court the day to accept the plea or court, Kristie still hadnt seen the plea deal, which they are required to explain, by law. She asked if Kristie was accepting the plea or not. Kristie asked to see the plea. That set Courtney on edge. Kristie insisted she is not accepting the plea until she sees it. Courtney showed it to her. Half of whatbwas there was not explained or inconcistent with what was discussed over the phone. Courtnsy walked out leaving us without an attorney.
The Judge. A motion to dismiss the the homocide charge, was completely ignored. The defense side anyway. She denied the dismissal on fabricated bullshit the OCSD created to get the warrant and the OCDA were elaborating the inconsistencies of. She never looked at anything beyond what prosecution shared with her. She even misquoted the prosecutors fabricated bs stating, quote, “if she hadnt taken the syringe…”. There never was a syringe used. There was however a heroine spoon amd syringe found in the room under the seat cushons, by house keeping, minutes after the room was released back to the hotel staff. The first thing they do is remove the cushons so this wasn’t left by a previous tenent. And it wasnt brought by Kristie or Matthew. That was the extent of the investsigation with regard to where that came from.
OCSD, OCDA and OCCourts are the criminals.
Kristke took the plea as the only means to end the nightmare.
