A small private airplane made an emergency landing at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal Monday after a fire broke out aboard the aircraft.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:46 p.m. Monday. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the blaze originated in the aircraft’s alternator.
The agency said the three people aboard the aircraft were not injured.
Palm Springs International Airport temporarily halted air traffic to the airport in Thermal during the incident.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 2:59 p.m., and normal air traffic operations resumed.
