A man allegedly invaded a home in Van Nuys and took a child with him when he left, prompting a search by police who said the child might be the subject of a custody dispute.
Police were notified of a home invasion and kidnapping at about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, a couple blocks north of Saticoy Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man and victim, who was reported to be a 3-year-old boy, left the scene in an older-model, dark-colored Ford Explorer SUV, an LAPD officer told City News Service.
A detailed description of the man was not immediately available.
According to a broadcast report, the boy was wearing yellow clothes.
