An out-of-control Tesla crashed into some townhomes in Orange before crashing through a block wall, plunging down an embankment and coming to rest after slamming into a home’s garage on a street below, police said Wednesday.

The 22-year-old driver apparently suffered a medical emergency before losing control of the vehicle, according to Sgt. Trevor Cullen of the Orange Police Department. Investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a factor in causing the crash, he added.

The Tesla crashed into a brick wall at the southeast corner of Chapman Avenue and Canyon View, Cullen said. The car then plummeted down an embankment and slammed into a garage in the 5900 block of East Cadbury Drive.

No one in the house was injured, but the home sustained major damage, Cullen said, adding that three neighboring homes also sustained minor damage from debris.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital.
