A rapidly spreading brush fire scorched about 750 acres in the Fairmont area Thursday, prompting evacuation warnings as firefighters worked to stop its forward progress.
The fire was reported about 2:20 p.m. near West Avenue D and 210th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The blaze initially burned about 10 acres before spreading quickly.
By 3:15 p.m., the fire had grown to about 50 acres, prompting officials to upgrade the response to a second alarm.
The blaze later expanded to approximately 750 acres and remained 0% contained. Evacuation warnings were issued for the surrounding area.
No injuries or damage to structures were reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
