A hiker suffered heat exhaustion and a bicyclist took a spill Friday on a trail around Diamond Valley Lake south of Hemet, prompting calls for help, but both victims ended up declining medical aid.
The trail emergency was reported at 1:40 p.m. Friday in the area of Lyon Avenue and Diamond Valley Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated the first victim called 911 complaining of immobility stemming from heat-related cramping — high temperatures reached the mid-90s in the area Friday — and the second victim reported suffering pain after toppling over on a mountain bike not far away.
Firefighters located both victims within an hour, and paramedics evaluated them but did not identify any life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Ambulances were summoned for the parties, both of whom declined further medical attention, according to the fire department.
Crews cleared the area by 3 p.m.
