Lower Castaic Lake, including its swim beach and Cali Splash Park, will reopen Wednesday after serving for five days as a base camp for firefighters battling the Ridge Fire in the Gorman area near the Kern County line.
Los Angeles County parks officials said the Lower Lake was closed while firefighting crews used the area to support operations against the blaze, which burned 1,134 acres.
The Upper Lake and the West Boat Ramp remained open throughout the closure and were not affected, officials said.
The fast-moving fire erupted Friday northeast of the Golden State (5) Freeway near Gorman School Road, temporarily forcing freeway closures, prompting evacuation orders and threatening 139 structures. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
Fire officials said the Ridge Fire was 98% contained as of Tuesday and expected to reach full containment by Wednesday. All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted.
