A 30-year-old man who was fatally shot in Van Nuys was identified Wednesday.
Officers responded about 2:10 a.m. Aug. 3 to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Murrieta and Hazeltine avenues, east of Van Nuys Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
He was identified Wednesday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Jorge Hernandez Arteaga.
Police said a male suspect approached the victim on foot, shot him and fled.
