A search was underway Monday for a 28-year-old convicted carjacker who walked away from a community reentry program in Los Angeles.
Staff at the Male Community Reentry Program received an alert at 5:40 p.m. Sunday confirming Dejohn W. Snell had removed his GPS device and an emergency count confirmed he was missing, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
He was last seen near Grand Avenue and 37th Street.
Snell was received by the CDCR on Sept. 30, 2025 after he was sentenced to six years for carjacking and second-degree robbery, corrections officials said.
He is described as Black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 226 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black hoodie imprinted with Rockstar Original, black pants and black and white shoes.
Inmates approved for the Male Community Reentry Program serve the end of their sentences in the community, corrections officials said.
Anyone who sees Snell or knows his whereabouts should call 911, any law enforcement agency or Special Agent Battles at 323-513-6029.
