A brush fire burned approximately 10 acres of vegetation in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte Monday before being contained.
Firefighters responded around 4:15 p.m. to the fire near Rosemead Boulevard and the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A second alarm to summon additional firefighters was requested at 4:57 p.m., the department announced.
The fire’s progress was stopped as of 5:20 p.m.
There were no reports of injuries or any damage to any structures.
An investigation to determine the cause of the fire will be conducted.
