A handgun was recovered at the scene of a shooting involving officers Monday in South Los Angeles, where no injuries were reported and a suspect was taken into custody.
Officers responded about 5:20 p.m. Monday to a radio call of a man with a gun in the area of 53rd Street and Broadway, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
“Upon arrival, the officers located the suspect who was armed with what appeared to be a handgun,” according to a police statement. “At this point an officer-involved shooting occurred.”
The suspect was not struck. He was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.
The suspect’s gun was located at the scene and booked as evidence.
“The area will be impacted for several hours and we ask for the community’s patience as we conduct a comprehensive investigation,” according to the police statement.
