Two people were injured Monday in a three-vehicle collision at a Lake Elsinore intersection, where one of the motorists briefly became belligerent with paramedics, prompting requests for assistance from law enforcement.

The crash was reported at 11:43 a.m. at Blackwell Boulevard and Grand Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said that a work van, a Mercedes sedan and a BMW sedan impacted at the location, though no other details were immediately available.

A Riverside County Fire Department engine crew and paramedic squad reached the scene within a few minutes and encountered one motorist who turned aggressive, allegedly pushing away firefighters and making threats.

CHP officers and sheriff’s deputies were promptly requested and arrived just after noon, the CHP said. By that time, however, the uncooperative party, whose identity was not disclosed, had calmed down and did not have to be physically restrained, according to reports from the scene.

There were no reports of an arrest.

Two victims were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment of unspecified non-life-threatening injuries.

All three vehicles sustained major damage and were towed away.

CHP officers were investigating the cause of the crash Monday afternoon.
