A man was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Lancaster Tuesday evening.
Deputies responded around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday to the 42900 block of North Sierra Highway to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a train, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s officials said the victim was apparently picking something up from the ground moments before being struck by the train.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the location, where they pronounced the victim dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.
Video from the scene showed paramedics attempting to revive the victim with CPR as he lay on the tracks between the rails.
His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
