A pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash that left another person severely injured in South Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Thursday.

The deceased victim was identified by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office as 23-year-old Mark Cooper. His city of residence was not provided.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a light-colored sedan being driven northbound on Western Avenue struck two pedestrians at 56th Street around 10:55 p.m. Monday. The driver fled the scene north on Western.

Both victims were taken to a medical facility, where Cooper was pronounced dead, according to police.

There was no additional information immediately available about a suspect or the vehicle.
