A woman was charged with second-degree murder Thursday for a fatal collision in Perris that killed a girl and injured five others.

Silvia Corona, 52, was taken into custody without incident and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Corona was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury for an Aug. 15 fatal collision at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Rider Street in Perris, authorities said, and was released from custody after posting bail.

One juvenile passenger was taken from the site of the collision to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Another juvenile passenger remains in critical condition, authorities said. The name of the girl was not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the fatal collision was encouraged to call Deputy Joseph Puente of the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951-210-1000.
