An brushfire was burning Saturday in Canyon Country with evacuations ordered and water-drops underway.
The Archer Fire was reported just before 6 p.m. Saturday on both sides of Soledad Canyon Road just south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokeswoman Pauline McGee told City News Service.
The fire was in medium brush burning uphill, McGee said. Firefighters were making progress at slowing the spread of the 8-acre fire.
A second-alarm was called at 6:12 p.m., bringing the number of firefighters to 200, with two heli-tankers making water-drops, she said.
People in four evacuation zones in the area were ordered to leave, McGee said. Google photos showed what appeared to be buildings and outbuildings on hillsides. Smoke was reported seen from the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway just north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol stated.
The flames affected five major roads in the area, McGee said.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters, she said.
