A man is in custody for allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from a Santa Clarita home and leading deputies on a short vehicle pursuit with her in tow, authorities said Sunday.

The woman called authorities at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday to report that her ex-boyfriend was assaulting her at a residence in the area of Bouquet Canyon Road and Lenny Drive and forcing her into a vehicle, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita station.

The call then suddenly dropped, he said.

The woman then phoned authorities at 11:23 p.m. to report that she was still in the vehicle in the area of Bouquet Canyon Road and Hob Court. Deputies were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle, triggering a brief vehicle and foot chase.

The suspect was taken into custody and the woman suffered only minor injuries, according to the watch commander.

As of 9 a.m. Sunday, the suspect was still being “processed” and had yet to be booked, he said.
