A Los Angeles Police Department officer was struck by a vehicle Friday evening while conducting a traffic collision investigation, with the suspect fleeing the scene before being taken into custody.
Officers assigned to the Mission Division responded around 7:45 p.m. Friday to conduct a traffic collision investigation in the 13300 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to the police department.
Police said that while on foot, one of the officers was struck by an uninvolved passing vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle fled the scene after the collision, resulting in the officer sustaining multiple injuries.
He was taken to a hospital where he was being treated and expected to be in stable condition, but the extent of the officer’s injuries was not disclosed.
Police said officers found the suspect and vehicle around 8:40 p.m. and they were taken into custody.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the Multi-Disciplinary Collision Team arrived at the scene to lead the investigation.
