Family and friends held a candlelight vigil at a Koreatown intersection Sunday night where a 33-year-old mother of two children was killed when her vehicle was hit by a speeding SUV, according to reports Monday.
The crash happened around 12:35 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Eighth Street and Ardmore Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
ABC7 reported that Ittai Rodriguez was making a food delivery when an allegedly speeding SUV collided with her vehicle, sending it careening onto a sidewalk and into a pole.
The relatives told ABC7 Rodriguez had just graduated from culinary school and had two job offers. She was delivering food in a vehicle she had just purchased.
The station also reported that the SUV driver was allegedly DUI.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office reported that Ittai Arenas Rodriguez, 33, died from traumatic injuries Friday in an intersection and the manner was an accident.
Video from the scene showed one woman, conscious but distressed, being loaded into an ambulance. Video also showed a vehicle that careened onto a sidewalk completely destroyed.
