A rapidly growing brush fire scorched about 74 acres Tuesday in Palmdale, prompting an evacuation warning for nearby structures before firefighters stopped its forward progress.
The fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday near East Barrel Springs Road and North 40th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A second alarm was requested around 2:15 p.m.
County fire officials confirmed around 3 p.m. that an evacuation warning was issued for nearby structures as crews worked to stop the forward progress of the blaze.
Residents were advised during that time to visit protect.genasys.com for information on affected areas.
Crews eventually stopped the forward progress of the blaze around 3:25 p.m. No injuries or structure damage were reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
