A 60-year-old San Diego County man accused of threatening harm to staff at a Temecula school, as well as possessing high-capacity firearms, was charged Wednesday with felony and misdemeanor offenses.
Louis George White Jr. of Warner Springs was arrested Saturday following an investigation by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
White is charged with publishing threats against an educational institution, four counts of illegal possession of assault weapons and one count of deprivation of civil rights.
He made his initial court appearance Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Theresa Canepa, who appointed him a public defender and scheduled his formal arraignment for Thursday at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
White is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail at the nearby Byrd Detention Center.
Patrol deputies were dispatched around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to the 31000 block of Nicolas Road, near Joseph Road, regarding a report of deadly threats, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Ricken.
Specific details were not disclosed, including the name of the educational facility and a possible motive.
Ricken said the investigation ultimately identified White as the alleged perpetrator, culminating in a search warrant being served at his residence in the 35000 block of Peralta Drive, near Highway 78.
The sergeant said items of “evidentiary value” were seized, including multiple guns. The defendant was taken into custody without incident.
Court documents showed prior convictions in another jurisdiction, but it was unclear whether those were felony or misdemeanor crimes.
