Two people were killed Thursday in a collision in Westminster on a Santa Ana (5) Freeway offramp, prompting the closure of lanes 3 and 4 southbound until 7 a.m.
The crash happened around 3:17 a.m. Thursday in a single vehicle collision on the southbound Lincoln Avenue offramp of the 5 Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.
Details on the victims and the collision were not immediately available.
The offramp was closed as of 4:29 a.m. and a SigAlert was issued for lanes no. 3 and 4.
A CHP log stated that a witness to the incident said a white SUV possibly appeared to miss an exit off the freeway, and instead plunged over the side of the freeway. The two victims were then ejected from the vehicle, according to the log.
Caltrans was requested to enact a hard closure of the area.
