Authorities Friday released the name of a 45-year-old woman who was killed last week in a shooting in downtown Los Angeles.
Violeta Castillo, whose place of residence was not immediately available, was killed by a male suspect around 2:35 a.m. on Aug. 27 near the intersection of South Towne Avenue and East Sixth Street, a Los Angeles Police spokesperson said.
Castillo’s name was released by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office, which reported she died from a gunshot wound to the head and died on a sidewalk.
A witness reported seeing the suspect on a bicycle, fleeing north on Towne Avenue, according to the LAPD.
Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene.
