A body was found Monday in the swelled waters of Ballona Creek near Playa Vista.

The discovery was made around 8:45 a.m. Monday. Emergency crews responded to the bike path near Lincoln Boulevard after a caller reported the body.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department both responded to the scene and were investigating the death.

No further details were provided, but NBC4, citing law enforcement sources, reported that the victim was a man who had likely been dead for a few days and appeared to have a hole in his head.

The creek’s water level had swelled overnight due to the rain from Hurricane Marie.
