Sheriff’s deputies in Lancaster shot a man who was trying to abduct his ex-wife Monday.
Law enforcement responded to reports of an armed man attempting to force his ex-wife into a vehicle on the 4400 block of 15th Street West at 9:46 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials wrote in a bulletin. When deputies arrived, they found the man holding a handgun while restraining the woman in a headlock.
Sheriff’s officials said the man shot at deputies, who returned fire.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Monday evening. No other injuries were reported.
