Forward progress was stopped on a fire that ignited Saturday in light- to medium vegetation in Sunland, and arson investigators were summoned regarding a possible suspect.

The fire was reported shortly after 3:05 p.m. Saturday at 11101 N. Oro Vista Ave., just south of where it turns into Big Tujunga Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Jamie Stewart. That location is also near hiking trails and a couple of churches.

Drones were requested to find any hot spots in the interior of the fire perimeter, Stewart said. No structures were threatened and no injuries were immediately reported.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest Service assisted in the firefighting operations.
