A pedestrian struck and killed by a train in the Central-Alameda community of Los Angeles was a 35-year-old man, the county medical examiner’s office revealed Monday.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 9:47 a.m. Sunday to 1668 E. Vernon Ave., near Long Beach Boulevard, where a person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
His name was Corry Hill, whose place of residence was not immediately available, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office revealed.
It was unclear what he was doing on the tracks.
The Rail Operations Control Center was notified and the tracks were shut down to rail traffic, the LAFD’s Jaime Stewart said.
Metro A (Blue) Line trains bypassed the Vernon station during the response and investigation, according to Metro.
