A 23-year-old man fatally wounded in a shooting in Long Beach was identified by county authorities Tuesday.
Homicide detectives responded to a reported shooting around 3:25 p.m. last Wednesday in the area of 21st Street and Cerritos Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim was identified as Steven Medina, whose place of residence was not immediately available, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
Responding officers found Medina with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a hospital and died in the emergency room, police said.
The shooting may have been gang-related, but an exact motive remained under investigation and no description of a possible suspect was provided.
